WHAT TO EXPECT

A designer-client relationship is special and unlike any other professional relationship.

In simple terms, my job as the designer is to discover what would make your space more wonderful for you, then manage the hundreds of details necessary to bring that design to life through a proven process.

Your job as the client is to allow yourself to be guided through the design process, while approving key decisions along the way.

Much of my work is repeat business and I love that! I also get new clients by referrals from happy past clients.

HOW IT WORKS

The design process is organized into a series of project milestones, beginning with exploring your needs, goals and tastes, and culminating with the complete installation of furnishings. From start to finish, I will guide you through the process so that you can relax and enjoy the journey.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?

Good things are worth waiting for, and a well designed home is worth the time spent!  Most projects usually last from 3-6 months. Factors that can affect the project timeline include custom furnishings, work by custom trades and contractors, time needed for you to approve key decisions.

HOW I CHARGE FOR MY WORK

I charge a flat design fee so you can plan and budget for your project.

My design fee is calculated by multiplying my hourly rate of $175 by the number of hours I expect will be needed to complete the agreed scope of work. Design fees will range between $2500 and $6000 depending on a series of variables. I will provide a design fee proposal based on scope of work which you will receive after the initial consultation.

Note that the design fee is separate from the furnishings and trades budget, which includes purchases of furniture, hiring contractors, etc. Also, the design fee is based on purchasing all furnishings through Cottages To Castles’ ordering system.

ARE YOU ABLE TO DO JUST ONE ROOM?

Absolutely! In fact, if we’ve never worked together before, it can work well to start with just one room.  This gives us an opportunity to get to know each other and gain trust.  Of course, if you need an expedited project and you need several rooms or a whole house done quickly, I can roll up my sleeves and jump right in.

ARE YOU ABLE TO WORK WITH MY CONTRACTOR?

Yes, I can.

Although, I prefer to work with my proven team, I’m happy to discuss partnering with your contractor.
